Another week down, let’s recap. Nokia unveiled a couple of featurephones in the 110 4G and 105 4G, which promise years of network connectivity for as little as $15 (if their predecessors’ prices are taken into account).
Japan got another exclusive phone with a 1-inch camera sensor. The Leitz Phone 1 is a rebranded Sharp Aquos R6, the pioneer of the 1-inch camera in a phone that also launched as a Japan-exclusive. Covering up the camera bump is a special Leica cap and the exclusive phone is on pre-order for JPY 187,920 ($1,700).
A few rumors, concerning the Galaxy S22 series broke out, suggesting that the Galaxy S22 and S22+ could have smaller non-LTPO screens and plastic rear panels. Numbers suggest 6.06-inch for the S22 and 6.55-inch for the S22+, down from 6.2-inch and 6.7-inch on the S21/S21+.
Windows 11 leaked through screenshots. The next variant of the OS will bring a redesigned Start Menu, the option to put taskbar icons in the center, rounded window corners and a set of new wallpapers.
The Honor 50 series arrived with Google Mobile Services and the announcement that Honor phones are going to support GMS going forward. There’s still the question if already-available Honor smartphones will gain GMS support retroactively.
The Honor 50 Pro, 50 and 50 SE all have 120Hz displays and 108MP cameras. The Honor 50 and 50 Pro share a Snapdragon 778G chipset, while the Honor 50 SE relies on a Dimensity 900.
Honor 50 and Honor 50 Pro go on pre-sale from June 25 in China. Honor 50 starts at CNY 2,699 ($422) while the Honor 50 Pro begins at CNY 3,699 ($578). The Honor 50 SE comes on July 2 for CNY 2,399 ($375).
The Realme GT 5G came to Europe with an early starting price of just €369 for the 8/128GB model and €499 for the 12/256GB. Those will balloon up to €449 and €599, respectively after next week.
