Bloomberg reported that the upcoming AirPods 3 will have shorter stems, a design that will be introduced with the a Beats headset first – those should be the Beats Studio Buds, which have been spotted twice adorning the ears of celebrities. They indeed have shorter, barely-there stems.
According to leakster Jon Prosser the Beats Studio Buds will cost $150. For comparison, the only current Beats TWS model is the Powerbeats Pro, which has an MSRP of $250 (but is currently down to $170). The base AirPods are $160.
The Beats Studio Buds will be available in Red, Black and White
The Beats Studio Buds will have Active Noise Cancellation and USB-C charging. It’s quite possible that the upcoming AirPods 3 will have the same hardware base as this Beats model (save, perhaps, for the USB-C port).
Prosser reports that the Studio Buds will launch on July 21 on a specific, unnamed carrier. Whether or not they become available in the Apple Store before that is unclear. The AirPods themselves are not expected until next year, according to the latest reports.
